Interior Painting in South Park

We once again had the opportunity to do some interior painting, this time in the South Park area. There was plenty of new trim and lots of unwanted wallpaper! This what it looked like finishing up.

Here's where we started...

with many angles...

and all the windows had new trim to be primed and painted.

We began with a quality primer from Sherwin Williams,

and 2 steamers on the wallpaper! After the paper was removed we skim coated the walls to remove any defects, patched holes, caulked any gaps and then primed the entire kitchen.

Next came a bright white for the ceilings.

and the walls were rolled with Sherwin Williams Emerald paint in "Natural Linen"

Every job has it's own unique challenges and this one was no exception. It's the process of adapting and overcoming all the challenges we encounter that makes the job rewarding!

Upper St. Clair Spacious Interior Painting

Here's a spacious beauty we finished painting this past summer!!

Sherwin Williams Duration was successful once again and the neutral color palette worked well in this well lit spacious interior.

Another modern open floor plan leads from the two story entry into the two story living room...

and into the gorgeous kitchen area.

Off the main space is the formal dining room.

The music room is across the foyer from the dining room.

Kitchen Ceiling and Wall Rescue Remedy!

Ran into this project from another referral! A kitchen in dire need of sprucing up.

Wallpaper was very dated and needed to come down. No telling what we might find back there!

The ceiling had three patches in it that didn't blend or hold up to well.

Let's see what we can do here.

Start by removing wallpaper and the portion of ceiling needing replaced. We will cover where all the holes were with one patch.

Like so.

The wallpaper was pretty terrible and wall surface problematic. We had the home owner in to discuss removing the drywall or just adding a light stucco finish. In the end, a stucco finish was more economical and won the day.

Ceiling was repaired and walls painted. A new plain medallion and light fixtures finished it off.

Chair rail was going in but we unfortunately didn't get a shot of it finished.

All in all a decent interior job to do while the rains continue to fall!

Interior Painting and Ceiling Repirs in Mt Lebanon

Here's another sample of our interior work from a very nice dwelling over in the neighboring Mt Lebanon.

And here's where it started. Trim was painted the same colors as the wall which hid these great features.

There were several areas needing patching and repairs.

The Kitchen ceiling being the worst.

So we begin, putting plastic across all doorways, covering cabinets and appliances, Ram board on floors, plastic and then tarps. What a mess this stuff makes.

But in the end, we have a ceiling that is beautifully repaired, primed and painted!
A new light fixture helps brighten things up too.

We accented the walls with a darker hue on the bulkheads and carries into the dining room.

A recommended flat white ceiling is always a plus.

The original job called for the kitchen and dining room, but the home owners liked our work so much we moved into the living room... 

through the entryway and up the stairs to the hall.

The front wall of the living room extended into the front hall, so it was accented with the darker tone to flow with the kitchen and dining rooms.

Another satisfied customer!

Interior Painting in North Fayette

Here's an interior we did last fall, never had a chance to post it. We painted the living room and dining room in this new addition, including the tall angled ceiling. This is a finished shot with the new floor installed by the contractor.

Trim was painted too. Some already installed and some not. Always easier to paint before its installed, then just touch up.

Flooring Install - Finshed in Venitia - Part Three

Well to finish the whole house, we needed one more thing, new flooring. The fun with this one is the flooring runs around the kitchen, through the front hall, entryway, powder room and closets. Yahoo! Well as you can see we did it, now we'll show you how.

The old flooring had welcome mats melted onto it by the sun and was showing wear.

We used Allure resilient vinyl tile from TrafficMASTER. The pattern we chose was "Ashlar" to keep with the warm tones in the house. It comes in 1 foot by 3 foot planks.

This flooring goes right over your old stuff if you have a solid floor. We decided to trim the baseboards and slip our pieces under rather than removing all the trim.

The Fein can get any interior corners the saw can't reach.

We recommend you start in a solid corner. We didn't have that luxury. Our first piece had a vent and a doorway. We also decided to alternate the tiles so the seams were offset.

Once the initial cuts are made the flooring goes in rather quickly. Be sure to tuck your corners and edges in nice and tight.

You can use a utility knife to cut. Make sure you have a good hard surface and a nice straight edge to work with.

All the fun spots are back behind stoves refrigerators and into closets

The main floor went on quite nicely

Working around stoves and refrigerators can be quite challenging when there's no place to put them. We moved ours into the corner in front of the closet. We then installed the flooring up behind it and  rolled the refrigerator back onto the new floor.

Next came the final thin row along the edge of the wall to the basement door way, into the front hall and closet

Fun times cutting thin little pieces. be careful not to bend or flex thin pieces, it can break off.

But then you get to install nice full pieces and keep the floor rolling

Once we got past the closet we had the powder room to contend with. The toilet was removed in the flooring placed through the bathroom.

The worst piece was in the entryway at the bottom of the stairwell, as you can see.

But something that trivial didn't stop us!

Then it was fitting the final pieces in along the entry and the front door.

There you have it! A beautiful entryway with the tack strips replaced and the heater vent back in place. 

The hall with the powder room and the closet all finished. 

And the kitchen in all its glory.

We use a wood threshold to match the flooring in the family room to separate it from the kitchen.
